  • 2 Basa fish fillets (boneless)

  • 1/4 cup pineapple chunks (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
  • Spring onions or sesame seeds for garnish

Method

  1. Heat oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat.
  2. Season the Basa fillets with salt and pepper, then lightly pan-fry each side for 3–4 minutes until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, sauté chopped bell peppers for 2 minutes until slightly tender.
  4. Add pineapple chunks (if using), ketchup, vinegar, sugar, and a little water to create the sauce.
  5. Optional: Mix cornstarch with water and add to the pan to thicken the sauce.
  6. Return the Basa fillets to the pan, coating them with the sweet and sour sauce.
  7. Cook for another 1–2 minutes to let the flavors blend.
